AMARONE CLASSICO ZENATO 2018 DESCRIPTION

Zenato's Amarone della Valpolicella Classico faithfully reflects the characteristic attributes of this type of wine, namely warmth, envelopment, and softness, while managing not to be heavy or tiring. The Zenato estate is one of the historical names in the Verona area. It was founded by Sergio Zenato in 1960 and is now led by his children, Alberto and Nadia, with the support of their mother, Clara. The winery is located in Peschiera del Garda, on the Venetian shore of Lake Garda, where the family passionately and precisely engages in a broad production based on the denominations of the territory.
Zenato Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is born from a blend of traditional grape varieties: Corvina Veronese (80%), Rondinella (10%), Oseleta (5%), and Croatina (5%), cultivated in the vineyards of the municipality of Sant'Ambrogio. After manual harvesting, carried out at perfect ripeness with a rigorous selection of clusters, the grapes undergo a controlled drying process in the drying room for 4 months, during which the berries lose water, concentrating the dry substance content. In January, the grapes are pressed, followed by a slow alcoholic fermentation on the skins in stainless steel tanks. The ageing phase of 36 months takes place in large Slavonian oak barrels, and after an additional year of refinement in the bottle, the wine is finally ready for release to the market.
Zenato's family-run Amarone della Valpolicella Classico has a very intense and consistent ruby-red colour. Intoxicating and complex aromas of ripe cherry, almost in spirit, wild berries, potpourri, mint, cocoa, and coffee characterize the olfactory profile. The significant warmth and enveloping softness on the palate are well-supported by excellent freshness and mature tannins.
