Barolo 'Bussia' by Giacomo Fenocchio is one of the reference labels for fans of the great reds of the Langhe. It comes from the experience of five generations of winegrowers and sums up the best characteristics of a splendid vineyard, located in one of the legendary cru of the Barolo area. The excellent quality of the grapes, rigorously selected, accurate vinification and ageing in large barrels, according to the most ancient Piedmontese custom, contribute to give a wine of great substance, dedicated to great connoisseurs, lovers of classic Barolo. To be enjoyed on a special occasion, with game, stews or roast beef.
The red Barolo 'Bussia' is the result of the experience of a family that has dedicated itself to viticulture in the Langhe, and in particular in the area of Monforte d'Alba, since the mid-19th century. The Giacomo Fenocchio winery owns highly prized vineyards and continues to produce great wines with a traditional face, pure expression of a great terroir. The wine is the fruit of five hectares of vineyards located in the famous cru Bussia, at an altitude of 300 metres above sea level, with a sunny south-westerly exposure. The vines are about 35 years old and are cultivated on calcareous-clayey soils, rich in iron elements. Harvesting takes place in the first half of October and the grapes are vinified in the traditional way, with spontaneous fermentation and indigenous yeasts in steel tanks. Maceration on the skins lasts about forty days, so as to obtain complete extraction. The wine matures for 6 months in steel tanks and 30 months in 35-50 hectolitre Slavonian oak casks, before final ageing in the bottle.
Giacomo Fenocchio's "Bussia" is a Barolo that well expresses the nobility of this terroir of Monforte d'Alba, which has always been recognised as one of the most vocated in the denomination, for its ability to combine finesse and power. It presents itself in the glass of a beautiful, luminous garnet red with ruby reflections. Elegant and refined, it expresses on the nose aromas reminiscent of dried rose petals, violet, dog rose, soft spices, liquorice root, against a background of small red berries. With good structure and intensity of flavour, it has a dense but evolved and mature tannic texture, which envelops complex, deep and finely faceted aromas. The finish is very long and persistent.
