PRIMITIVO GIOIA DEL COLLE 'MURO SANT'ANGELO CONTRADA BARBATTO' TENUTE CHIAROMONTE 2019 DESCRIPTION

Tenute Chiaromonte's Primitivo Gioia del Colle "Muro Sant'Angelo Contrada Barbatto" is an Apulian red with an intense, rich, elegant profile. In the Gioia del Colle area, Primitivo is expressed with a more delicate and fresh character than in the Manduria and Sava areas. The calcareous soils and altitude contribute to the ripening of grapes with a more balanced aromatic bouquet and less sugar content. The result is a Primitivo with a flowing and dynamic sip, expressing fruity aromas and hints of Mediterranean scrub with great expressive finesse. It is a perfect red to bring to the table with grilled meat or a mixed grill.

"Muro Sant'Angelo Contrada Barbatto" Primitivo di Gioia del Colle is made by one of the most interesting producers in the area. The vineyards of Tenute Chiaromonte are located in Acquaviva Delle Fonti, in the hilly hinterland of Bari, and cover an area of about forty hectares. The principles of organic farming are followed in the countryside, and among the rows, there are also old bush-trained vines, which are a valuable estate asset. The poor, rocky soils of a predominantly calcareous nature favour low yields and give the grapes, particularly fine aromas. The winery's philosophy is based on the centrality of the vineyard and a harmonious relationship with the surrounding environment to produce wines that faithfully reflect the nature of the land.

Tenute Chiaromonte's Primitivo Gioia del Colle "Contrada Barbatto" is a wine still made with passion and artisan care. It is made from the grapes of old vines more than 70 years old grown as alberello vines on limestone soils over 300 meters above sea level. At the end of the classic red wine-making process with maceration on the skins, the wine matures for a period of 18 months in large barrels. It shows a dark red colour with purple highlights. The bouquet expresses intense aromas of dark berry fruits, morello cherry, ripe plum, dark chocolate, notes of herbs, hints of carob and soft spices. The sip is harmonious, rich, complex and with velvety tannins. The finish closes on pleasantly refreshing and spicy notes.
