Mionetto is an extensive sparkling wine company in the Prosecco area, in the Veneto region, which has accompanied the evolution and success of Italy's most famous sparkling wine since 1887. It was Francesco Mionetto, at the end of the 19th century, who started the production activity among the hills of Valdobbiadene, an area of excellence of Prosecco, in 2019 elected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After establishing itself over the centuries as one of the most important wineries in the area, in 2008 Mionetto was purchased by the German Group Henkell & Co. Sektkellerei KG, now known as Henkell Freixenet, a reference point in Europe in terms of the volume of bubbles produced. The new owners, however, did not want to renounce that philosophy based on the link with the territory that has always distinguished the Mionetto winery, and they also wanted to consolidate the winery's commercial image throughout the world. On the other hand, among the elements that are part of the estate's history is the desire to innovate through a far-sighted entrepreneurial vision.
The grapes processed by the Mionetto winery come from different Prosecco areas, in particular from Valdobbiadene, an area made up of numerous picturesque hillsides dedicated almost entirely to Glera, the denomination's symbolic variety. This white grape variety benefits, on the one hand, from the tendentially temperate climate, characterised by significant temperature swings between day and night, and on the other hand from the varied composition of the soils, from limestone to clay, passing through sand and marl. The sparkling wine-making technique adopted by Mionetto's oenologists is based on the Martinotti Method, otherwise known as the Charmat Method, a practice that involves a second fermentation in autoclaves at a controlled temperature, aimed at enhancing the freshness and aromas of sparkling wines.
Mionetto's extensive sparkling wine production is subdivided into several selections, among which the 'Luxury' collection stands out as an emblem of prestige and elegance. This is also evidenced by the refined design of the bottle, characterised by a sinuous shape that has obliquity as its hallmark.
