BARRICADIERO MAGNUM AURORA 2015 DESCRIPTION

Aurora's Barricadiero Magnum is a tasty and complex Montepulciano produced by one of the bastion wineries of the Marche region. At a time in history when the artisanal dimension of wine has returned to the forefront, it is not difficult to get confused between those who try to ride a current and those who instead work seriously in pursuit of a precise creed. To the latter category undoubtedly belongs Cantina Aurora, a true institution that, since 1979, the year the winery was founded, has always adopted a non-interventionist approach, preserving the integrity of the soil and the plant, also as a legacy for generations to come. So much silent work and few frills have not prevented the winery from ending up on the radar of wine enthusiasts or those simply looking for good, usable wines at a more than fair price. These wines should never be missing from your cellar, to be opened whenever you feel like it.

The Magnum Barricadiero wine is made from pure Montepulciano grapes, from vines at least 20 years old, resting on calcareous clay soil, facing south and south/west. In the vineyard, the dictates of organic farming have always been followed as an implicit choice, so chemical or synthetic substances are banned and only a little copper and sulphur are used. In the cellar, just as much care is taken, so the alcoholic fermentations take place spontaneously and in the case of Barricadiero, the wine is aged for 24 months in barriques.

The Barricadiero red presents a ruby red colour, compact and impenetrable. A nose of great depth, rich in suggestions ranging from earthy to blackberry, from cocoa to leather, all declined with a gradual and iridescent expressiveness. The sip is full and rich but never static, constantly countered by lively tannic friction. Class and harmony for a Magnum format.
