Cannonau Riserva Pala 2019

The Cannonau riserva Pala is a full-bodied and intense red wine, a faithful expression of the Sardinian terroir. It exhibits a bouquet of great complexity, characterized by intense fruity notes of blackberry and cherry against a background of spices and leather. CANNONAU RISERVA PALA 2019 DESCRIPTION

Pala's Cannonau Riserva was born on our beautiful Sardinian island, in an area that gives red wines of rare quality and flavour. The Pala family's adventure began in 1950 with the first harvest and the release of the first bottle. Mario Pala represents today the third generation at work and is helped in the vineyard and cellar activities by his wife Rita and their children Massimiliano, Maria Antonietta and Elisabetta. Enthusiasm and willingness to experiment and revisit tradition are the daily goals that move the work in the cellar and vineyard in order to give the public an authentic product. In 2020 the business celebrated harvest number 70.

Pala's Cannonau Riserva vineyards are located at Is Crabilis on hilly terrain set at an altitude of about 180 meters above sea level. The soil is mainly composed of limestone, marly stone and clay for wines with an elegant and structured character; the vines have an average age of 45 years and a low yield respecting the natural phases of growth and development. The climate is Mediterranean, with a conspicuous influence of sea breezes, which provide pleasant savoriness and keep temperatures mild in summer and winter. Harvesting is done manually; maceration on the skins for 10 days occurs in the cellar, followed by alcoholic and malolactic fermentation. Aged in 3,000-liter oak barrels for 12 months, after in steel for 3 months. It rests in a bottle 3 months before entering the market.

The colour of Pala's Cannonau Riserva is a deep dark red with impenetrable highlights. The aromas are reminiscent of wild blackberries and ripe red-fleshed fruit such as strawberries in union with notes of leather and spices such as black pepper; in the mouth, it is elegant, structured and enveloping with well-integrated and pleasant tannins that draw the drinker back to glass after glass. In pairing, it is recommended with grilled or braised red meat cuts, pasta dishes dressed with elaborate and spicy sauces and game; also excellent with aged cow's milk cheeses. Perfect for the family holiday table to taste all the goodness of the Sardinian land and discover forgotten flavours.
