Amidst the majestic Alpine peaks of South Tyrol lies the Bergmannhof estate, a strictly family-run winery committed to sustainable production. At the helm of the winery, located precisely in the municipality of Eppan on the Wine Road, is the Pichler family, which has been at the forefront of Bergmannhof production since 1851, with management in the hands of Johannes Pichler for over 40 years. He represents the third generation dedicated to the production and marketing of wine, building on a tradition started by his grandfather Karl and continued by his father Josef. In fact, it was Karl and Josef who, in 1978, inaugurated wine production from the then 2.5 hectares of vineyards. However, the history of the farm is even older, as documents dating back to the 17th century testify to the strong link between the estate and viticulture.

The vineyards of the Bergmannhof estate are spread over several areas in the municipality of Eppan, in particular between the hamlets of Gaido and, above all, São Paulo. In detail, most of the vineyards are located in the so-called 'Huberfeld', one of the most prestigious sub-zones in and around São Paulo. Adopting sustainable agronomic practices, the Pichler family grows here Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc and Manzoni Bianco among the white grapes, Lagrein, Schiava, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Pinot Noir among the black grapes. The soils consist mainly of gravel, clay and limestone, with some very stony sections, while the altitude ranges from 270 to a good 800 metres. Harvesting is carried out entirely by hand, respecting the ripening period of each variety, vinified through spontaneous alcoholic fermentation and, more often than not, with complete malolactic fermentation. The types of wine vats used are varied and include stainless steel tanks, oak casks and terracotta amphorae, containers in which the wines remain to mature on the fine lees. During the entire production cycle, the addition of sulphites is then reduced to the minimum necessary, as are filtering operations.

There are numerous labels presented by the Bergmannhof wine cellar, each highlighting a different nuance of the Eppan terroir, while maintaining a style founded on cleanliness and organoleptic fragrance.
