Manna is a white wine of good aromatic complexity, among the most celebrated and award-winning expressions of Franz Haas, produced from the main grape varieties of Alto Adige. It has exuberant aromas of spices, flowers and exotic fruit and a smooth, rich, long and savory palate
"Manna" is a South Tyrolean white wine from the Franz Haas winery, made from five varieties of white grapes typical of the area. It has a rich, multifaceted personality ready to amaze. That is why Franz Haas has dedicated it to his wife Maria Luisa Manna since the first vintage of production in 1995. Franz Haas's winery is located in Montagna, in the province of Bolzano, and its vineyards extend over altitudes ranging from 240 to 1150 meters, allowing the production of fifine, long-lived wines. The labels of the bottles are remarkable: created by the artist Riccardo Schweizer, who in the past collaborated with giants such as Picasso, Chagall, Cocteau and Le Corbusier.
The white wine "Manna" is made from five different grape varieties: Riesling, Chardonnay, Traminer Aromatico, Sauvignon and a small percentage of Kerner. They come from various vineyards located at altitudes between 350 and 800 meters. Therefore, the soils and microclimates are also different, and this implies a displacement in the ripening periods of the grapes. Therefore they are vinified separately, according to the different varieties. Chardonnay and Sauvignon carry out alcoholic fermentation in barrels, while Riesling, Kerner and Traminer ferment in steel tanks. Once the fermentation phase is complete, the wines are blended according to the best combination and rest on the lees for about ten months. Following this period of maturation, it is bottled and left in the glass for a few months before release.
Franz Haas Manna is a wine capable of evolution. In its youth it shows intense straw-yellow hues that, after a few years, turn to a brilliant golden color. It has a concentrated, penetrating bouquet and a layered complexity that opens on fruity and floral notes of elderflower and rose petals, with a hint of dried fruit emerging more clearly over time. The sip is soft, full but very fine and fresh. It is long-lived and changeable, embellished with understated elegance. Indeed, it is no accident that it was dedicated to a woman, whose name it bears as a sign of loving devotion
